Electric Longtail Boat Pier
The concept of an electric longtail boat pier is gaining attention in Thailand, especially in areas where longtail boats are the primary mode of transportation, such as Damnoen Saduak District, Ratchaburi Province.
Electric longtail boats are a development of traditional longtail boats, replacing internal combustion engines with electric power. This innovation offers several advantages, such as:
- Reduced air and noise pollution – Electric engines produce no exhaust emissions and operate much more quietly.
- Lower long-term costs – The electricity required to charge batteries is cheaper than fuel.
- Environmentally friendly – Reduces fossil fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
In Thailand, some pilot projects have been initiated, such as the Electric Longtail Boat Pier at Wat Choti Thayakaram, located in Damnoen Saduak, Ratchaburi Province. This project was established by the Wat Choti Community Enterprise to support the local community, promote sustainability, protect the environment, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
